These have been strange days… Donald Trump staring into a solar eclipse without protective eye-ware… North Korea’s dictator Kim Jong-Un playing chicken with the world using long range missiles… Houston underwater with record rainfall… Hurricane Irma, the strongest recorded hurricane ever in the Atlantic tearing up the Caribbean and bearing down on Florida… Mexico’s earthquakes… even our city Windsor with over 6000 homes flooded…

This is only a fraction of the worldwide turmoil that never seems to end. What once took days to reach the news from afar is immediately available to us from multiple sources as it is happening.

There have always been troubles, but the frequency and intensity is staggering to say the least. There are many prophecies and Scriptures that talk about the end of the age getting like this. So, what if the globe is literally entering into apocalyptic seizures marking the end of time?

Some will rush to say the end is near and others will say it has always been this way and life will go on indefinitely. However you decide to view all of these events, it is vital to have a reason to hope. If you find yourself sitting on the roof of your house with floodwaters rising, do you think you might have an adjustment to your worldview?

Jesus predicted coming days when things would become unbearable. Notice the posture he calls for when things get out of control.

Luke 21:
25-26 “It will seem like all hell has broken loose—sun, moon, stars, earth, sea, in an uproar and everyone all over the world in a panic, the wind knocked out of them by the threat of doom, the powers-that-be quaking.
27-28 “And then—then! — they’ll see the Son of Man welcomed in grand style—a glorious welcome! When all this starts to happen, up on your feet. Stand tall with your heads high. Help is on the way!”

When the world is at its worst, stand up with hopeful expectation. The return of Christ will bring about a new way of life for the entire planet. Don’t get hopeless in light of how tragic everything is—instead look to God for how good things will become.

When your neighbourhood gets flooded and people are in great despair, what kind of neighbour will you be? If we are only concerned about saving ourselves, we fail our neighbour. The end of the world can be the finest hour for those who believe the best is yet to come. We can actually face our mortality without fear!
